Elizondo – National Director @ National Latino Children’s Institute.

Rita Elizondo has joined the National Latino Children’s Institute (NLCI) as the National Director. In this capacity, Elizondo, in collaboration with the board of directors, will lead the organization’s strategic direction and fundraising efforts.

Elizondo was formerly an independent consultant with Breakthru Solutions in San Antonio where she worked with corporations in event management, government and corporate relations. She has extensive experience directing leading national Hispanic organizations.

Elizondo was President of the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce from 1998-2004 where she worked with the board of directors to establish and implement strategic long-term planning, conducted extensive fundraising and served as the official spokesperson. Previously she served as the Executive Director for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute from 1990-1998 and the Director of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Washington and Texas offices.

The National Latino Children’s Institute (NLCI) is a non-profit organization based in San Antonio, TX; its mission is to focus the nation’s attention on Latino children and empower communities for the full and healthy development of young Latinos in a culturally relevant environment. Started in 1994, the institute through its’ mission continues to promote and implement the National Latino Children’s Agenda, a comprehensive statement of principles created by 48 national organizations and endorsed by hundreds of individuals and organizations since then.
