Warner Home Video Announces The ‘Coleccion Latina’.

As a follow up to its recent Hispanic Heritage Month releases, Warner Home Video (WHV) will distribute a second wave of titles February 28, 2006. WHV continues to be enthusiastic about the Hispanic home video market, noting sales of original Spanish-language DVDs have grown 83% from 2000 to 2005. The Warner Home Video “Coleccion Latina” features critically acclaimed, award-winning DVDs from Mexico and Spain, all of which have original Spanish language audio and English subtitles. Selling price is $14.98 SRP.

“La Ultima Noche” (“The Last Night”)

The last installment in the Mexican smash box-office hit trilogy which began with “La Primera Noche” (“The First Night”) and followed with “La Segunda Noche” (“The Second Night”), also released by WHV in September 2005. Starring Mexican legend Andres Garcia and Cecilia Gabriela, star of the hit telenovela “La Madrastra,” “La Ultima Noche” concludes the bittersweet stories of an extended family in present-day Mexico City. “La Ultima Noche” is directed by Alejandro Gamboa, who also directed the first two installments, and also stars Mariana Avila, a telenovela star and member of the hot Mexican girl-group Mama No Sabe Nada (Mama Knows Nothing).

“Deadly Cargo” (“Camara Oscura”)

An edge-of-your-seat thriller on the high seas that was a box-office sensation in Spain. Directed by Pau Freixas (“Cactus”), “Deadly Cargo” received two Goya Award Nominations – Best New Actress for Silke, who plays Terra in the film and Best Supporting Actor for Unax Ugalde who plays Hector. The film also stars Lluis Homar (“Bad Education”) and Adrai Collado (“El Arte de Morir”). Variety writes, “`Deadly Cargo’ exploits a decent budget, good performances and self-assured helming with such skill and energy that it transcends the cliches inherent in it’s inevitably deja vu plotline.”

“Ants in the Mouth” (“Hormigas en la Boca”)

A crime thriller set in 1958 Spain and Cuba which won a Best Actor Award for its leading star Eduard Fernandez (“Fausto 5.0”) at the Malaga Spanish Film Festival. “Ants in the Mouth” was also nominated for Best Film at the Malaga Film Festival and was directed by Mariano Barroso (“In the Time of the Butterflies”) and also stars Adriana Gil (“Belle Epoque”) and Jorge Perugorria (“Fresa y Chocolate”). Variety writes, “…a brooding, intense and shrewdly-plotted thriller.”
