October 7, 2005
Discovery Networks US Hispanic Group, a division of leading global real-world media and entertainment company Discovery Communications, today announced the formation of a specialized advertising sales team to represent the company’s expanded portfolio of Spanish-language networks. The new team will be based in Los Angeles, New York, Miami, and Chicago.
Victor Parada has been named director of advertising sales for the US Hispanic Group developing advertising partnerships and managing operations in the company’s four offices serving the U.S. Hispanic ad sales market. Parada spent the past six years managing Discovery’s ad sales effort in Mexico and other Latin America markets and will be based in Miami.
William Lopez has been appointed as regional manager, advertising sales, East Coast, based in New York City. Lopez previously sold advertising for Univision and Fox Sports en Español and worked in advertising and promotions at The Vidal Partnership, a premier Hispanic ad agency.
In addition to Parada and Lopez, the company is recruiting for regional sales managers in Los Angeles and Chicago.
“The expansion of our ad sales team advances Discovery Network’s strategy to better serve the U.S. Hispanic market,” said Luis Silberwasser, senior vice president and general manager, Discovery Networks US Hispanic Group. “Discovery’s three Spanish-language networks have been well-received by the advertising community, and we are now prepared to serve their needs with an experienced sales staff and four sales offices.”
Last month, Discovery Networks launched Discovery Travel & Living (Viajar y Vivir) and Discovery Kids en Español to complement its flagship network, Discovery en Español. The three networks offer programming created in Spanish for a Spanish-speaking audience.
The U.S. Hispanic sales team will work closely with the company’s 10 existing international and domestic sales offices to serve the growing base of advertisers interested in reaching the Spanish-speaking audience in the United States.
