National leaders from government, business and philanthropic organizations will convene at the New America Alliance (NAA) Fifth Annual Wall Street Summit in New York City from Oct. 26–28, 2005 at the New York Palace HotelHot. The Summit will address challenges and propose solutions to improve access to capital for Latino-owned businesses and increase the number of Latinos on corporate and pension boards in the United States, among other important topics concerning today’s influential U.S. Latino population.

Prominent business and government leaders will be featured speakers including Commissioner Roel Campos of the Securities and Exchange Commission who is giving the first keynote address during Wednesday evening’s welcome dinner. U.S. Treasurer Anna Cabral will speak at the opening session on Thursday morning. Colorado Senator Ken Salazar will be the keynote speaker on the morning of Friday, October 28th, to be followed by New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson at the closing luncheon.

The Wall Street Summit features panels on initiatives directed at:

· social responsibility investing (SRI) and the Latino community;

· access to capital markets and financing for Latino businesses;

“With U.S. Hispanic buying power of over $600 billion quickly approaching $1 trillion, a community growing three times the rate of the rest of the population and substantial financial investment by venture capital firms in Latino-related or Latino-owned businesses, this market segment clearly has a significant impact on the U.S. economy,” said Marilou Martinez Stevens, NAA Chairman of the Board.

Ms. Martinez Stevens added, “We have assembled an important group of speakers, sponsors and panelists to raise awareness and candidly discuss how we leverage the true potential of this market by ensuring Latinos are in positions of influence in all segments of our economy and government. We also recognize and support those who have been making a difference in our community to help the next generation of Latino business leaders.”
