Copa Nissan Sudamericana Nets Significant Ratings Growth For Fox Sports en Español.

On the heels of its most successful Copa Toyota Libertadores season to date, Fox Sports en Español announced that ratings for its exclusive Spanish-language telecasts of the Copa Nissan Sudamericana continue to heat up, fueled by the popularity of first-time tournament participants from Mexico.

“We’re very pleased with the performance of Copa Nissan Sudamericana so far this season,” said David Sternberg, executive vice president and general manager of Fox Sports en Español. “The addition of Mexican teams to this year’s tournament has clearly struck a chord with our viewers and promises to deliver even stronger ratings through the final rounds.”

According to Nielsen Media Research, through two action-packed rounds encompassing 52 games, the 2005 Copa Nissan Sudamericana has thus far delivered extraordinary increases for Fox Sports en Español over last year’s tournament cross all the key demos, including Men 18-34 (+467%), Adults 18-34 (+400%), Men 18-49 (+1,000%), and Adults 18-49 (+514%).

Two second-round matches featuring Mexican teams have delivered the highest ratings of the tournament to date.
