LatinWorks Supports Red Cross Efforts For Hurricane Relief.

LatinWorks announced the release of a street marketing campaign created to give a sobering perspective of Hurricane Katrina’s devastation and encourage immediate financial donations to the American Red Cross for relief efforts. The work was conceived and produced in three days, with printing donated by Austin-based Proforma.

The street campaign consists of a series of six high-impact, straightforward messages intended to be placed throughout cities across the nation. The small-scale ads illustrate the severity of the situation to those affected by the disaster in a creative way and implore immediate donation. Elements of the campaign will be seen on grocery stores, bus stops, posts, automobiles, elevators and building doors. For example, the message to be placed on automobiles states, “This car would be floating in New Orleans.”

“It’s hard to avoid a plea for help when you see it all over town in your everyday surroundings,” said Sergio Alcocer, President and Chief Creative Officer for LatinWorks. “Our campaign seemed to be the most direct way to get this message in front of the American public.”

The materials were delivered to the American Red Cross in Central Texas on Thursday morning for immediate placement by Red Cross volunteers throughout Austin. Volunteers throughout the rest of the country began receiving similar materials on Friday.

Additionally, LatinWorks adapted a Spanish language public service TV ad and two companion radio spots originally developed in English by fellow Austin agency GSD&M. The ads, produced in-house, were designed to reach a broader audience and encourage donations from the country’s Spanish-speaking population. All English and Spanish language spots began running last week.
