Deloitte & Touche Strengthens Commitment To Latino Professionals.

With Latinos expected to comprise nearly 15% of the work force by 2012, representing an increase of 109.8% in 20 twenty years (since 1992), Deloitte & Touche USA LLP, one of the nation’s leading professional services organizations, is staying ahead of the curve and strengthening its commitment to Latino professionals in finance and accounting.

Deloitte is a Host Sponsor of the 33rd Annual National Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA) convention here, which runs from Saturday, August 6 through Wednesday, August 10. ALPFA is one of the nation’s leading professional organizations, uniting more than 2,000 Latino executives, professionals and students from accounting, finance and information technology.

Deloitte’s sponsorship includes a significant investment in scholarship funding for Latino students. Today, Joe Echevarria, Deputy Managing Partner of Deloitte & Touche USA, will award Deloitte-funded scholarships to some of the most active and talented Latino students from colleges and universities throughout the country.

“The diverse mix of the U.S. work force is changing rapidly. Smart companies already realize that the best and brightest talent lies within a diverse work force,” said Echevarria. “Diversity and inclusion is the lifeblood of our business strategy and integral to our ability to provide our clients with the best solutions.”

Deloitte & Touche has a deep and long-standing relationship with ALPFA. Several Deloitte professionals are chapter presidents in their local geographies and have invested significant time and effort supporting the involvement of more Latino professionals in finance and accounting.

“Deloitte’s commitment to diversity extends from the workplace to the markets, clients, and communities we serve,” said Redia Anderson, Chief Diversity Officer. “We are committed to attracting and retaining the best talent over the long term and to creating an environment where our employees can reach their highest potential.”
