XM Deportivo Set To Launch On XM Satellite Radio.

XM Satellite Radio will launch its exclusive national 24-hour Spanish-language sports channel on August 15. The new channel, XM Deportivo (XM Channel 147), will feature coverage of all sports from Latin America, including soccer, baseball and boxing, along with real-time reporting on sports from all over the world. In addition, the channel will feature in-depth Spanish coverage of the FIFA World Cup Germany 2006, including qualifying matches, beginning later this year. XM’s first World Cup qualifying match broadcast will be on Wednesday, August 17 between Costa Rica and Mexico, and will be broadcast live from Mexico City.

XM Deportivo has been developed in partnership with Andres Cantor, the legendary soccer play-by-play announcer and one of the world’s most recognized sports personalities. Cantor and his company, Futbol de Primera – the leading syndicator of soccer programming in Hispanic radio – will create and produce original content for the new 24-hour channel. Additionally, General Motors has signed on to the presenting sponsor for XM Deportivo.
