3rd Annual ‘Premios Fox Sports’.

Underscoring its mission to bring Latino sports fans closer to their favorite athletes and teams, Fox Pan American Sports today announced the nominees for the 3rd Annual “Premios Fox Sports,” the only awards program of its kind to recognize the contributions and accomplishments of Latino athletes and personalities from the world of sports both on and off the field. Winners in 13 categories will be voted on exclusively by fans and crowned during the official “Premios Fox Sports” awards ceremony to be held December 5, 2005 at the Jackie Gleason Theater of Performing Arts in Miami Beach, Florida. Voting starts today and runs through October 16, 2005 at http://www.premiosfoxsports.yahoo.com

“We are immensely proud to once again enable our viewers and Latino sports fans across the Americas to join us in selecting the recipients of ‘Premios Fox Sports’ awards,” said David Sternberg, executive vice president and general manager of Fox Sports en Espanol. “Now in our third year, ‘Premios Fox Sports’ still remains the only awards program of its kind to honor the achievements and contributions of Latino athletes and sports teams, both to their teams and their communities. Latino athletes have proven themselves on and off the field in 2005 and this year’s show promises to be the best one yet.”

Among this year’s nominees are Florida Marlins’ standout Carlos Delgado (Baseball); Emanuel Ginobili from the San Antonio Spurs (Basketball); Guillermo Coria (Tennis); and Juan Pablo Montoya (Motor Sports), among many other deserving athletes and individuals from the world of sports.

“Yahoo! is excited to be working with Fox Pan American Sports again to help sports fans choose this year’s slate of ‘Premios Fox Sports’ winners and we are confident that through our regional network we will maximize the exposure of this unique event,” said Jose Rivera Font, general manager for Yahoo! North Latin America. “We invite sports fans to take their pent up cheers and jeers to the online polls and vote on the most accomplished players and best moments in sports for 2005.”

In addition to serving as the voting hub, the official site (premiosfoxsports.yahoo.com) will also provide access to up-to-date information surrounding the event, including photos and videos from last year’s show. The site will be hosted throughout the Yahoo! Spanish-language network, including Yahoo! Mexico, Yahoo! Argentina and Yahoo! en espanol, where last year more than 300,000 users cast their votes.
