Countrywide Home Loans, Inc. has promoted Mary Salinas Duron to executive vice president of its national multicultural sales group. As head of this area, Duron will continue her responsibilities directing extensive outreach efforts to reach minorities and lower-income borrowers and communities, initiating new programs and services and overseeing Countrywide’s House America branches and national counseling center, which provides home loan counseling and home-buyer education.

“Under Mary’s leadership and expertise, Countrywide’s 9,000-strong retail sales force has continued to expand access to affordable mortgage financing to multicultural markets across the nation,” said Brian Hale, managing director of national production and chief production officer for Countrywide’s retail division. “With an emphasis on providing homeownership opportunity for all Americans, Countrywide’s workforce is primed with loan products and training to best serve our customers.”

Previously, Ms. Duron was senior vice president and director of Countrywide’s national emerging markets group, and its House America and fair lending efforts. In her role as CRA officer, Ms. Duron directed the CRA activities of the Bank. Mary joined Countrywide’s House America group in 1998 with a strong background in both fair lending and community reinvestment. She increased Countrywide’s visibility in the fair lending arena, extensively promoted Countrywide’s House America initiatives, represents Countrywide on several non-profit boards and has forged new community relationships. In her previous capacity, she oversaw the House America Counseling Center, the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act reporting functions, fair lending compliance and supported the production divisions’ fair lending efforts.
