Support For Southern California Youth Soccer Organization.

For the first time, top corporations have joined forces to provide funding for Southern California Youth Soccer Organization (SCYSO), a non profit organization that provides youth from disadvantaged communities an environment to develop as individuals and athletes. Funds provided by the new tournament series title sponsor State Farm Insurance and corporate sponsors La Curacao, Sierra Mist, KFC, Herdez Corporation and Uniroyal Tire will help to expand SCYSO programs to reach more children from mainly underprivileged Hispanic communities throughout Southern California.

“Since its inception in 2000, SCYSO has been funded primarily by grants and private investors,” said Southern California Youth Soccer Organization’s Executive Director Joe Supe. “2005 marks the first year corporations have gotten involved at this level, which will enable us to expand the program to serve even more kids, buy new equipment, subsidize scholarships, fund field trips, implement academic career days and much more. With their support, these generous corporations will make a direct, positive impact on children’s lives in Latino communities through the game of soccer.”

Currently, Hispanics make up 41% of the Los Angeles’ population, making it the largest Hispanic population in the U.S. and SCYSO is committed to the integration of Hispanic youth into mainstream education and athletic programs to provide this growing community with the tools needed for success. SCYSO provides: coaching education to parents, volunteers and coaches; youth soccer tournaments; athletic training for youth; academic advising for parents and players; and placement opportunities for athletes to colleges, universities, Olympic Development Program and international professional teams.
