LatinWorks Spreads Hope.
May 6, 2005
A haunting new spot from LatinWorks is spreading the word to the U.S. Hispanic community about the United Nations’ World No-Tobacco Day, May 31st.
The commercial takes place in a morgue, where we discover a family in a moment of anxiety and anticipation. As they make their way through the stark hallways of the morgue, their hopes dwindle. They know that they are there to identify the body of a loved one. But all hope is not lost, and the spot has a surprise ending that sends a chill up our spines and the message that we are all capable of changing our fate by changing our habits.
LatinWorks volunteered to create this public service announcement because the agency believes there is a lot of work to be done to make Hispanics in America realize the risks of smoking. “Culturally, the Hispanic community is less aware of the dangers of tobacco,” said Sergio Alcocer, Vice President of Creative Services at LatinWorks. “But we wanted to send them a positive message. So instead of saying ‘Stop smoking or you’ll die’, we’re saying ‘Stop smoking and you’ll live’.”
The spot is currently running with the generous support of Sí TV, Fox Sports en Español and the MásMúsica TeVe Network.
