NY1 Launches Pura Politica – Voces de la Ciudad.

With only months to go before New Yorkers cast their votes in local elections, NY1 Noticias launches the only local Spanish-language television show devoted to New York City politics. Pura Politica – Voces de la Ciudad, debuts on Friday, June 3rd at 6:00 p.m. It will provide Spanish-speaking viewers with in-depth reporting and newsmaker interviews all from a Hispanic perspective. The weekly half hour show will feature prominent political guests, local elected officials, community activists and reporters and columnists.

“The goal is to create a political show devoted entirely to the interests and concerns of the Hispanic population in New York,” said Steve Paulus, senior vice president and general manager of NY1 Noticias, Time Warner Cable’s 24-hour Spanish-language news channel. “Hispanic New Yorkers will play a major role in who will be running the city the next four years. Much like Road to City Hall on NY1, Pura Politica – Voces de la Ciudad will be the program for Spanish-speaking New Yorkers to watch for local politics, exclusive and investigative stories, as well as in-depth analysis of everything happening in the political world of New York City.”

Pura Politica – Voces de la Ciudad will be hosted by NY1 Noticias’ Juan Manuel Benítez. Juan Manuel has been a general assignment reporter for NY1 Noticias since the channel launched in June 2003. He has covered day-to-day city politics, education, social issues, and events such as the Republican National Convention, the Democratic National Convention in Boston, and Former President Ronald Reagan’s funeral in Washington DC.

The show will repeat on Saturdays at 2:00 p.m. and Sundays at 4:00 p.m.
