Telemundo Premiers ‘Amarte Asi’.
March 7, 2005
On Tuesday, April 5 at 7PM (ET\PT) Telemundo will premiere “Amarte Asi,” a family-friendly story centered on a boy’s search for a father, and the impossible love between his parents. This new Telemundo original production starring Litzy, Mauricio Ochmann and introducing Alejandro Felipe Flores as the charming Frijolito, is a love story seen through the eyes of a small boy.
“Amarte Asi” is the story of Margarita (Litzy), a mariachi singer, and Ignacio (Mauricio Ochmann), a young doctor. In their past, they shared one night; a night that Ignacio does not remember, but one that changed Margarita’s life forever. Out of that night, a child was born.
Today, Margarita works as a singer in a trio that plays in a small restaurant. Her love life is reduced to singing love songs. Margarita is bitter and doesn’t move past the night she was drugged and presumably raped. Even though Margarita remembers the name and face of the man that supposedly raped her, the truth is that Ignacio, whom she thinks is guilty of the crime, is innocent of any wrong-doing.
As fate steps in, their son, Frijolito (Alejandro Felipe Flores), who is now six years old and believes his father is dead, befriends a very special man, who, unbeknownst to him, is his father. Although, from the beginning Frijolito forms a very special bond with this young man, Margarita worries about the growing relationship between her son and the man she hates and blames for her disgrace.
Destiny plays a trick on Margarita, who finds full-time work as a nanny in Ignacio’s home. His brother, Francisco, a widower and father of the two girls that Margarita takes care of, is attracted to her. Unable to do anything, Ignacio witnesses how his brother (and worst enemy) falls deeply in love with Margarita.
In the middle of all these entanglements and emotions, Frijolito’s life unfolds. Frijolito only wants to help his mother and see her happy. He also dreams of a father when he sleeps at night…not knowing how close he is to him.
“Amarte Así” is produced by Promofilm for Telemundo. In addition to Litzy, Mauricio Ochmann and Alejandro Felipe Flores, the cast also includes the beloved Edgar Vivar, known for his ever-popular character El Señor Barriga in “El Chavo del Ocho,” as Don Pedro; Roberto Mateos as Francisco; Carla Peterson as Chantal, Tina Romero as Evangelina and Liliana Rodriguez as Anunciacion. Also in the cast are the lovely children, Leonardo Suarez as Toño; Mariana Beyer as Dulce and Isamar Gonzalez as Daniela.
