Los Angeles-based Lotus Communications Group announces the appointment of Ken Kwilosz Jr. as Vice President and General Manager of its newly acquired Phoenix Television station KPHE Channel 44. Channel 44 is part of a three station acquisition which launches Lotus Communications into the Spanish Television broadcasting arena.
Lotus is one of the nation’s largest privately held broadcasting companies and is well known as a pioneering force in the Spanish Media industry. Lotus Communications Corporation currently owns and operates 24 radio stations, three television stations, and holds a fifty percent interest in Lotus Entravision Reps a nationwide sales organization which exclusively represents over 120 Spanish Language radio stations.
Lotus was founded by Howard Kalmenson with the purchase of Los Angeles’ first Spanish radio station KWKW in 1962.

He is admired by his peers and has an outstanding track record as both a broadcaster and as a contributor to this community”. Kwilosz comes most recently from KPNX-TV (NBC affiliate). He has held previous management positions as Local Sales Manager at KPNX-TV, General Sales Manager at KTVK-TV (Independent) and helped launch the Warner Bros. affiliate KASW-TV.
Channel 44 will be formatted as Phoenix’s first all news over the air Television station and is expected to deliver Hispanic viewers with a format similar to that of KTVK-the City’s leading English Television Station-also a news format.
The brand of KPHE has been dubbed as TV INFORMA (Information Television) and is expected to launch its 24 hour programming schedule early this spring.
