February 14, 2005
Univision Online, Inc. announced that it has achieved an important industry milestone by successfully receiving Media Rating Council (MRC) Accreditation of the Internet audience measurements of Univision.com. The MRC audit, conducted by Ernst & Young, verified that key traffic measures of Univision.com comply with the MRC’s Minimum Standards for Media Rating Research and the Measurement Guidelines of the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB). Univision.com is the first Spanish-language website to be accredited by the MRC.
“We see Univision.com’s MRC Accreditation as an important milestone in the evolution of Internet advertising,” said Javier Saralegui, president, Univision Online. “Since the days of our initial commissioning of Nielsen Media Research to establish a benchmark for U.S. Hispanic television ratings in 1992, Univision has been committed to the highest standards of media measurement. The online Hispanic community is growing aggressively. As it matures, we need reliable and accurate numbers.”
“The Internet is one of today’s critical advertising media, and accordingly, web-publishers and ad-servers must embrace quality measurement tools that give advertisers and agencies an accurate picture of the audiences they are reaching. Through the MRC Accreditation process, Univision.com provides the valuable assurance needed to the buying community about the quality and transparency of their measurements,” said George Ivie, Executive Director of the Media Rating Council.
