Alternative & Innovative Marketing Takes Gold & Silver Reggies.
February 10, 2005
Alternative & Innovative Marketing LLC (AIM) took home two Reggie awards, one for The Los Angeles Dodgers ¡Viva Los Dodgers! and the second for ConocoPhillips Bomba de Premios (“Pump for Prizes”).
The Reggie is one of the most prestigious series of awards identifying and honoring the best promotional programs of the year. Established in 1983 by the Promotion Marketing Association, the name of the award – The Reggie – is derived from “cash register” which was chosen because “nothing happens until a sale is made.”
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be recognized with such an honor for two of our many client programs,” comments Jeff Symon, president of AIM, a company he founded in 1997, “It’s very satisfying to see the results of our efforts receive awards of this caliber in our industry.”
¡Viva Los Dodgers! was first created in cooperation with AIM in 1998 to help The Los Angeles Dodgers build a strong relationship with the Latino community as a way to get them to sample Los Angeles Dodgers baseball. This single day festival, for which local fans are invited to a pre-game event in the Dodger Stadium parking lot, enables attendees the opportunity to enjoy a live concert by top Latino recording artists as well as meet Dodger players and take pictures with them, bringing them closer to the team as a whole.
“The 7th Annual ¡Viva Los Dodgers! Music Festival set a new standard for sponsorship, attendance and talent,” said Dan Brewster, Manager of Advertising & Special Events for the Dodgers. “We couldn’t be happier with what this event has come to mean to our fans and community.”
ConocoPhillips Bomba de Premios (“Pump for Prizes”) is an interactive promotion which brings a 76 gas station to life at special events. Complete with 76 signage, pumps and attendants, instead of pumping for gas, consumers pump to win prizes.
“Our brand did not have a consistent, unique, turn-key approach by which to promote itself at events as a means to build brand awareness, equity, and trial,” notes Kathleen Post, Regional Marketing Coordinator for ConocoPhillips. “Working with AIM on the concept for Bomba de Premios we immediately saw the potential for this program which has been proven by consumer response, redemption back at the stations, corporate support and now this Reggie award recognition.”
