Telemundo To Acquire KBLR-TV In Las Vegas.

Telemundo has entered into an agreement to acquire the Las Vegas based KBLR from Summit Media Limited Partnership, the network announced today. KBLR, a full-power television station and current Telemundo affiliate, will join the 15 other Spanish-language television stations already owned and operated by the NBC Universal Television Stations Division.

“Las Vegas is one of the fastest-growing Hispanic markets in the country,” says Don Brown, Chief Operating Officer, Telemundo Communications Group. “The acquisition of KBLR reflects Telemundo’s ongoing commitment to strengthen our presence in the major Hispanic television markets and provide our viewers with the quality news, entertainment and sports programming associated with the Telemundo network.”

“KBLR is a great addition to the Telemundo Television Stations Group and reaffirms our commitment to localism,” says Jay Ireland, President of the NBC Universal Television Stations. “This key acquisition gives us the opportunity to expand Telemundo’s unique brand of local news, programming and community outreach to the burgeoning Hispanic population of Las Vegas.”
