Providence Gets Spanish & Portuguese FMs.

According to Radio & Records magazine, Davidson Media Group closed on its purchase of WAKX & WKKB/Providence from Citadel on Monday, and both stations now have new formats. WAKX officially drops its simulcast of CHR/Rhythmic WWKX by adopting a Portuguese-language format. Meanwhile, WKKB has flipped from mainstream Rock to Tropical, Davidson Media President Peter Davidson confirmed to R&R. Davidson purchased the two FMs for $7.5 million. The deal was initially announced in December 2004.
