Yahoo! en Español Launches Fantasy Soccer Games.

Yahoo! en Español today launched Superliga Mexicana and Superliga Copa Libertadores ( http://espanol.sports.yahoo.com/superliga), .

Both Superliga Mexicana, which mirrors the Mexican soccer league, and Superliga Copa Libertadores, which follows the 2005 Copa Libertadores, will allow users to set up and run their own soccer teams using their choice of settings and configurations. Within the parameters of the salary cap game, players will be able to build a roster of professional soccer players – through weekly player picks – and watch as the team’s success is measured by the on-field statistics of the players. Players can participate in a public league or create their own custom league with family, friends or co-workers. Under rules of the Salary Cap game, players have a finite amount of money to spend during the season to acquire players.

“Superliga is tailor-made for soccer fans who have always wanted to manage their own fantasy soccer team,” said Jose Rivera-Font, general manager of Yahoo! en Español. “It gives fans everything they need to test their soccer know-how and compete with other avid fans, family and friends.”

“The introduction of the Superliga games offers something that no one else has and allows us to take our users deep into the game they so love and venerate, added Rivera-Font.”

To keep fantasy soccer fans attached to the game, Yahoo! Deportes will feature groups, message boards, and complete statistical information that will enable better informed decisions.

Registration will continue throughout the tournament for both Superliga Mexicana and Superliga Copa Libertadores.
