Entravision ‘Colecta De Amor’ Program @ TV Station In Santa Barbara.

KPMR-TV Univision Channel 38 and KTSB-LP TteleFutura Channel 43, which are owned and operated by Entravision Communications Corporation (NYSE: EVC), announced the launch of “Colecta de Amor” (Harvest of Love) in an effort to bring holiday cheer to needy Central Coast residents. “Colecta de Amor” began on Friday, November 12th and will run throughout the 2004 holiday season.

“Colecta de Amor” spans three different events, the first of which is a food drive in conjunction with Mel Clayton Ford of Santa Barbara and Catholic Charities of Santa Barbara County. Mel Clayton Ford is donating 500 turkeys and KPMR and KTSB are running thirty-second spots and hanging posters asking residents to donate non-perishable food items to one of several donation sites. In addition to covering the drive extensively on its nightly news show, “Noticias Univision Costa Central,” KPMR will also air a special news segment featuring a family that benefited from the food drive. The food drive runs through Tuesday, November 23rd. Catholic Charities will distribute all food items to needy residents the day before Thanksgiving.

“Colecta de Amor” also includes support for a donation drive benefiting Unity Shoppe, a non-profit organization that helps provide basic needs to help avoid homelessness and welfare dependency among Central Coast residents. KPMR and KTSB will also provide promotional support for a telethon to raise money for the organization, which is airing on December 4th and December 5th on the local ABC affiliate, KEYT-TV. KPMR and KTSB on-air personalities will make appearances on the telethon and urge viewers to contribute to the Unity Shoppe. In addition to airing promotional spots for the telethon and donation sites, starting Sunday, November 28th, KPMR and KTSB will begin airing thirty-second spots and news segments profiling the organization, as well as a news segment, scheduled for December 6th, covering the results of the telethon.

KPMR and KTSB will culminate “Colecta de Amor” with a toy drive on Sunday, December 12th. The stations will partner with Toyota of Santa Maria to collect toys for the Central Coast’s underprivileged children. The toys will be donated to local charities and given to children who otherwise would not receive any presents this holiday season.

“KPMR and KTSB are dedicated to serving the local community. This holiday season, we wanted to put our energies and efforts towards spreading cheer to those that are less fortunate,” said Chris Roman, General Manager of KPMR-TV UNIVISION Channel 38 and KTSB-LP TELEFUTURA Channel 43. “Colecta de Amor” is an ideology that we share not only during the holiday season, but also throughout the entire year. We thank all of those who are partnering with us for this initiative and look forward to working with other community businesses and organizations in the coming year.”
