Los Tres Reyes Magos DVD.

Las Posadas and Dia de los Reyes, which is celebrated on January 6th,, have been Latin traditions for centuries. Just in time for the Holiday season, a beloved children’s animated film comes to DVD for the first time ever. One of the few animated feature films ever to emerge from Latin America, Los Tres Reyes Magos (The Three Wise Men) celebrates Día de los Reyes (Day of the Kings) with the Biblical story of the Three Wise Men, who journey to see the Christ child during the reign of King Herod. Their journey is hindered by the antics of the Devil, disguised as Prince Olbaid (Diablo spelled backwards), and his demon sidekick, Murcio. This superb family film, directed by Adolfo Torres Portillo and Fernando Ruiz, contains a lively mix of characters and songs which brings new insight into the story of the Three Wise Men.

The movie won the prestigious Diosa de Plata Award for Best Music and features traditional Spanish songs from Las Posadas (annual re-enactments of Mary and Joseph’s search for shelter in Bethlehem).

The film has crossover appeal for adults and children of all ages. Dia de los Reyes (or Los Tres Reyes Mago) is the most important holiday in Latin America next to Christmas. On the eve of this holiday, families around the world place their shoes, along with water and food for the camels, out to wait for the arrival of the Three Kings. In the morning, children find gifts in the shoes. Los Tres Reyes Magos reigns supreme as a classic holiday movie. It has been digitally restored and remastered for superior audio and video quality. Los Tres Reyes Magos, as part of the Latin Cinema Collection, offers optional English subtitles, English and Spanish menus, and trailers.
