October 15, 2004
Univision Communications Inc. announced that Julie Stav has joined Univision Television Network News (“Noticiero Univision”) as a financial expert and consultant. In addition to her segments on the network’s early morning program “Despierta America” (Wake Up America), Stav, a registered and licensed stockbroker and a household name to millions of Hispanics across the nation, will appear with the network news team on Sundays at 6:30pm ET (5:30pm CT) to help Spanish-language TV viewers take charge of their financial future.
“I am very proud to have joined the Univision Network, and share with them the vision that the Hispanic community represents an awakening financial giant. The Spanish-language audience is searching for financial literacy content that is culturally attuned to their needs, but more importantly, in their own language,” said Stav. “Our programming will inspire and guide them on how to achieve the great American Dream…financial security.”
Stav will continue to host Univision Radio’s acclaimed daily national show “Tu Dinero” (Your Money) and provide financial content and columns to Univision Online.
In addition to her impressive financial credentials, Stav brings to the Univision Television Network a rich background of multi-media communications experience. Since 1979, she has been educating and empowering thousands of people – in English and Spanish – by way of hundreds of financial planning seminars. She has co-produced numerous programs with the PBS Network and is the author of two New York Times bestsellers, “Get Your Share” and “Fund Your Future.” In the first quarter of 2005, Stav will be launching the first ever Spanish-language personal finance magazine in the US.
Today the U.S. Hispanic consumer is 40 million strong, comprising 13.9% of the total U.S. population, with a total annual buying power of $570 billion that is projected to double within the next 10 years.
