mun2 television Launches Voting Campaign.

With the Latino vote up for grabs, mun2 television will launch a voting campaign especially designed to encourage young Hispanics to vote in the 2004 November Presidential Election, announced Yolanda Foster, Vice President of Programming and Promotions at mun2. The campaign focuses on issues that the network’s independent research identified as being of most concern to young Latinos, such as abortion, gay marriage and the war in Iraq.

“We want to encourage every young Latino to participate in this nation’s democratic process with a unique voting campaign that clarifies the opposing positions on the issues that are most relevant to them,” said Foster.

The campaign includes a series of 30-second PSAs featuring young, well-informed Latinos with passionate opposing views on issues, representing both Republican and Democratic stands. This approach seeks to educate mun2 viewers on issues of most importance to them, so that they feel better equipped to cast their vote on the presidential candidate that best represents their personal values and interests.

To promote the campaign, broad coverage has been secured on “Chat,” a mun2 talk show that provides a forum for young Latinos, with two consecutive shows devoted to the 2004 Presidential Election and the importance of exercising one’s right to vote. The campaign will also be covered on “The Report,” a mun2 news alternative show that delivers a 15-minute update on topics that are relevant to young Latinos. In addition, the network has allied itself with SVREP in order to provide viewers an online destination where they can immediately obtain information to register to vote.
