Fútbol de Primera @ KLYY-FM ‘La Cumbia Caliente’ In LA.

Fútbol de Primera and KLYY-FM 97.5 “La Cumbia Caliente,” owned and operated by Entravision Communications Corporation, announced a two-year broadcasting agreement whereby KLYY-FM in Los Angeles will be the official radio station of the Mexican National Team. KLYY-FM will air World Cup qualifying, friendly matches and the prestigious 2006 FIFA World Cup Games, making it the only FM radio station serving the Los Angeles, California, market to broadcast the Mexican National Team. With its combination of Mexican National Team coverage and Cumbia music, KLYY-FM is now the leading destination for Los Angeles-based Mexicans seeking sports and music that mirrors the unique Mexican culture.

Beginning October 11, 2004, KLYY-FM will air a daily show Monday through Friday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. featuring legendary sports announcer Andrés Cantor, who will provide breaking news, analysis and perspective and timely interviews from Fútbol de Primera. KLYY-FM will also air a weekly recap show on Sundays from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The 2005 Camino a la Copa (road to the World Cup) games will include ten World Cup elimination matches and several friendly matches, all featuring the Mexican National Team. Fútbol de Primera’s first broadcast under this agreement will be the World Cup qualifying match between the Mexican National Team and St. Vincent on Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. PDT.

Mr. Cantor, Chairman of Fútbol de Primera, said, “We are excited to be able to air our programming in the Los Angeles market on such a prestigious and successful radio station as KLYY-FM. We look forward to making history together by broadcasting the most important soccer events and shows on the FM band.”

Karl Meyer, General Manager of Entravision Radio’s Los Angeles radio cluster, including KLYY-FM, KSSE-FM and KDLD/KDLE-FM, said, “The addition of Fútbol de Primera on KLYY-FM is the perfect complement to the station’s format, which comprises music influenced by the diverse and rich Cumbia sounds from Mexico. The Los Angeles market is home to eight million Hispanics, the vast majority with Mexican roots and a passion for music and soccer. We are excited to make KLYY-FM their number one radio station for both.”
