Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, a law firm,announced that Lisa Cuevas has joined the firm as director of global diversity. In this position, Ms. Cuevas is responsible for enhancing and overseeing the firm’s diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Weil Gotshal has been recognized for its pioneering and ongoing efforts in the legal community to promote diversity and create a climate of inclusion. The firm’s original diversity policy was used as a model by the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and the firm is one of only a few law firms with a diversity-based vendor-purchasing program. Today, this program purchases a substantial eight-figure amount each year in goods and services from minority- and women-owned businesses. In addition, Weil Gotshal is believed to be the only U.S. law firm to participate in a European supplier diversity initiative.
Ms. Cuevas joins Weil Gotshal from Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, where she divided her time between providing direction and administration to diversity efforts and overseeing the administrative management of the litigation department. She received a B.A. degree from New York University in 1989, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and received a J.D. degree from Fordham Law School in 1993. Following law school, she was an assistant district attorney for seven years in the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office.
