Zel – Executive VP @ Telemundo Cable Networks & Strategic Planning.

Antoinette Zel has been named Executive Vice President of Telemundo Cable Networks and Strategic Planning. The announcement was made by Don Browne, Chief Operating Officer for the network. Zel will be responsible for overseeing the cable portfolio and the development of strategic planning and growth initiatives related to Telemundo in the U.S. and Latin America. She will join the network before the end of the year and will report directly to Browne.

Her vast experience, leadership and understanding of the U.S. and the Latin American markets will position Telemundo to be a market leader in cable. As a key member of the senior management team, she will use her skill and experience to seek out strategic growth opportunities for the Telemundo network,” said Browne.

Prior to joining Telemundo, Zel was President of MTV and Nickelodeon Latin America. In that capacity she was responsible for programming, marketing, ad sales, distribution and all the staff functions in Miami, Buenos Aires, Mexico City and Sao Paulo.

Zel first joined MTV in 1991 as part of the Business and Legal Affairs group in New York. In 1993 she launched MTV Latin America as General Counsel and Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs. In 2001 she was named President. Prior to her tenure at MTV, she practiced entertainment law at Reid & Priest in New York.

Zel holds a Juris Doctorate Degree from Columbia University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tufts University. Born in New York of Cuban descent, she currently resides in Miami Beach with her husband and three young sons.
