Conexión NewspaperLeads Bilingual Voter Registration Initiative.

Conexión newspaper kicked off VOTO ‘04, a two-phase bilingual voter registration campaign that encourages the citizens of Bexar County to register to vote and provides citizens with important information needed to participate in the voting process.

Conexión is taking the lead with VOTO ’04 and has joined forces with Southwest Voter Registration and Education Project, League of Women Voters and the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

To encourage voter registration, 200,000 Spanish and English voter registration cards will be distributed in the September 2 and September 9 editions of Conexión. Following the distribution of registration cards, Conexión will launch a four-week campaign to motivate voters in addressing voter apathy.

“One of our greatest privileges as American citizens is the right to vote and Conexión and VOTO ‘04 encourage all Bexar County citizens to exercise that right,” said Raul Flores, editor of Conexión. “Conexión will provide readers with the tools and information needed to make informed decisions on Election Day.”

Conexión will also provide readers with detailed voter guides that will include complete lists of polling locations, profiles on all national, local and area candidates, and informative editorial features that detail how this election year affects the citizens of San Antonio.
