July 24, 2004
Hispano USA announced that its Hispano Movies division has secured from famed Mexican film producer and director Ismael Rodriguez the exclusive promotional and distribution rights to a library of more than 600 titles from Mexico’s golden age of cinema. This era featured such enduring movie icons as Pedro Infante, Jorge Negrete and Fernando Soler, and films such as “Los Tres Huastecos,” and “A Toda Maquina.”
The library of films will be featured in “La Cineteca Hispana” — the Hispanic Film Heritage Tour that will blanket major Hispanic markets to offer a variety of advertising and promotional opportunities to participating sponsors.
Maseca will sponsor the initial tour, scheduled to travel across Florida and Georgia in September and October. Additional tours are being planned throughout the year with other sponsors.
“We are proud to be able to bring these classics of the Mexican cinema to our communities, for those who grew up with them and love them, and for new generations to learn and appreciate their heritage,” said Alberto Gonzalez of Maseca. “In fact, more than half of the 100 best Mexican films of all time are from this golden era of Mexican cinema.”
“Seeing movies and sharing this experience as a family is especially embraced by the Hispanic community,” said Javier Ruiz Galindo, Hispano USA president. “The popular appeal of these films and the star power of the actors who appeared in them continue to draw audiences today. As a result, this tour offers a powerful vehicle for Maseca and other sponsoring brands to reach consumers who have emotional connections to these films.”
‘Cinetransformers’ offer complete movie experience The Tour will travel to markets via impressive 18-wheel trailers known as “cinetransformers,” because they can be transformed into 95-seat movie theaters featuring the latest technology.
