‘By the Sea’ Catches The Latin Rhythm.

It’s an award-winning film that mixes romance, comedy, mysticism, and salsa with a red-hot Latino cast. In other words, the perfect summer movie has just arrived on DVD. ‘By the Sea’ is the romantic story of Lena Oscar, a beautiful Cuban-born, but New York raised woman, searching for love and meaning in her life. Taking a job as a chef’s assistant at a seaside resort, Lena forms a bond with the shy, handsome maintenance man while being mysteriously visited by the ghost of a turn-of-the-century Cuban baseball player.

Elena Aaron (“The Sopranos,” NBC’s “Ed,”) in her feature film debut, wowed audiences and impressed critics with her outstanding performance. Also receiving critical acclaim was Chris Rivaro (Law and Order, Sex and the City) as the Cuban baseball player. This film has broken all the rules for American independent films including “sophisticated visual effects” (Variety) and a strong Cuban music soundtrack. Along with three Best Film awards, BY THE SEA received three Imagen Award nominations for Best Picture (along with Frida and Spy Kids 2), Best Actress (along with Salma Hayek and Jennifer Lopez), and Best Supporting Actor, unprecedented for an indie film.
