Chivas Regal Launches National Search For Global Adventurer.
July 18, 2004
If your dream job includes traveling the globe looking for adventure and the best that the world has to offer, your time has come. The makers of Chivas Regal Scotch Whisky are launching a nationwide search for an individual to help document the world’s most extraordinary sights and experiences – The Search for the Chivas Life Guide. The program, “The Chivas Life,” was created to seek out and find those moments that help to make a lifetime extraordinary.
The decision to launch the program came about after Chivas Regal conducted a national survey in which men were asked what might make their lives more extraordinary. The overall survey results seemed to reflect a desire to travel, the opportunity to experience the finer things in life, and the chance to expand their knowledge.
“The survey illustrated that people are genuinely interested in a life that offers more adventure, passion and relaxation, “ said Chris Willis, USA Vice President of Marketing for Chivas Regal. “We thought it might be fascinating to further explore these means to a ‘better life,’ and create a guide that could help you attain it.”
Not surprisingly, survey respondents looked for a sense of exotic adventure, and a large 56% said they would like to explore the great pyramids of Egypt above all else. Experiencing Carneval in Rio de Janeiro and walking the Great Wall of China also ranked quite high. When asked what makes up an extraordinary moment in one’s life, an astounding 75% of respondents favor sharing outstanding moments with close friends and loved ones, as opposed to a mere 13% who would prefer complete solitude.
Chivas Regal seeks to identify and select an adventurous, passionate and dynamic individual to fill the position of editor for The Chivas Life Guide. Once selected, the editor will embark on a three-month journey, taking them around the globe in search of the most exceptional experiences the world has to offer. These adventures will be documented in The Chivas Life Guide, scheduled for release in spring 2005.
“Finding the resources, namely the time and money, to live a more extravagant lifestyle poses the most significant hurdle for most, but this will not be a problem for the individual we select,” Willis continued. “In addition to helping to provide an experience of a lifetime, we are going to compensate our editor with $50,000, as well as an additional $50,000 travel stipend for their role in documenting what we hope becomes the quintessential guide to living life to its fullest.”
