July 5, 2004
Rudy Pérez, one of the outstanding creators of international pop music, has written and produced “Que Viva la Unión,” the official song for Telemundo’s broadcast of the Olympic Games Athens 2004. The launch of the Olympic theme, performed by Michael Angelo, was announced today by Jorge Hidalgo, Executive Vice President of Telemundo Sports.
“We’re extremely proud to work with someone as talented as Rudy,” said Hidalgo. “‘Que Viva la Unión’ represents our U.S. Hispanic community as well as the historic moment that Telemundo is celebrating by offering the first Olympic broadcast by Hispanics and for Hispanics.”
“My inspiration to write the Olympic theme ‘Que Viva la Unión’ was based on my deep desire for a worldwide celebration of peace,” said Rudy Pérez.
“Que Viva la Unión” is performed by Puerto Rican singer Michael Angelo. The artist has been part of important productions, including the musical “Jesús: Pasión y Muerte” alongside Ricky Martin. This year, Michael Angelo will launch an album produced by Rudy Pérez.
