The Green Beauty: Aguacate.

Avocados are gaining popularity among beauty specialists as a natural ingredient for skin care treatments. The popular green fruit contains exceptional moisturizing properties.

“Applying the avocado flesh over the skin as a mask in combination with other natural ingredients is excellent for keeping skin hydrated, giving it smoothness and brightness without clogging the pores,” said Tasha Noriega, founder and president of Tasha & Co.

Being a Latina woman, Noriega understands first hand the challenges that Hispanic women face when searching for the right treatments for their different skin needs. Hispanic skin is often a combination skin type. It tends to develop dark spots and uneven pigmentation, a problem that Noriega addresses with her original skin care products.

Due to her experience treating Hispanic women’s skin care problems, the Hass Avocado Board (HAB) asked her to create three original avocado treatments that suit Latinas needs.

“You don’t need complicated beauty treatments to be able to give your skin the attention it requires,” said Noriega. “All that’s needed for an effective nourishing face mask can be found in almost every kitchen.”

True to her principle, Noriega developed a skin treatment recipe based on nutrient-dense Hass avocados, fruits and vegetables, combined with yogurt and oatmeal. The recipe can be easily prepared at home, and has three variations for different skin types. “This is a great exfoliating mask. It helps to remove dead skin cells and even out the skin tone, something of particular importance for Hispanic women,” said Noriega.
