Univision WLTV-TV Leader In Miami In May Sweeps.

Miami TV viewers prefer Spanish-language WLTV, Channel 23, over all other English and Spanish-language stations in market, according to the Nielsen Station Index (NSI) demographic data for the May 2004 sweep period. A study of prime time, early fringe, early news, late news and total day reveals that Univision station WLTV-23 is number one among all Miami’s local stations for viewers ages 18 to 34, 18 to 49 and 25 to 54. Highlights from the survey include the following:

· Prime Time – In a sweep period marked with finales to long-running shows such as Frasier and Friends, WLTV-23 stayed ahead of the competition with its strong prime time line-up by having the largest audience increases from one year ago, and earning the #1 spot among Adults 18-34,
18-49 and 25-54.

· Early News – There are six Miami broadcast stations competing in the 6 pm news race, and WLTV’s “Noticias 23,” with anchors Guillermo Benites and Alina Mayo Azze, was crowned #1 for all key demos. In addition, “Noticias 23” posted audience growth among all key demos, especially among the young Adult 18-34 television viewers. It had a 33% increase year-to-year.

· Late News, Monday-Friday 11-11:30 pm: Continuing the trend from the 6pm newscast, “Noticias 23” was once again the #1 news program in the market with more Adult18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 viewers than any other English or Spanish language newscast at that time.

· Early Fringe (Monday-Friday, 4pm – 6pm): Univision’s Miami produced programs on WLTV-23 are also taking the number one spot among adults in Miami. “El Gordo y La Flaca” has maintained the number one spot, from 4-5pm, for the last seven major sweeps outperforming other shows such as “The Oprah Winfrey Show” on WFOR, the CBS affiliate during the same time period. “Primer Impacto,” WLTV-23’s news magazine program at 5pm, also ranked first among Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54, out-performing its closest competitor, WSVN, the FOX affiliate, by 29%.

· Total Day, Monday-Sunday 7A-1A: WLTV-23 is clearly the all day leader. It ranks first place among all key demographics. WLTV-23’s strength among the younger Adults 18-34 television viewer is proven with WLTV’s +50% ratings advantage over its closest competitors, WBZL (UPN), and WSVN (FOX). Both achieved a 1.6 rating. Among Adults 18-49, WLTV-23 scored a 2.6 rating and a 14 share, outperforming its closest competitor, WSVN, the FOX affiliate, by 44%. For Adults 25-54, WLTV had more viewers than the combined audience for CBS and ABC.

· Daytime, Monday-Friday 10am – 4pm: WLTV-23’s daytime block also ranks first among Adult 18-49 and Adult 25-54 demos. Scoring ratings of 1.6 and 1.4 respectively, WLTV’s daytime programming outperforms any other station in the market, regardless of language.
