Once Caldes triumphed over Sao Paulo 2-1 last Wednesday advancing them into the finals of the 2004 Copa Toyota Libertadores. On Thursday, defending champion Boca Juniors beat River Plate 5-4 in penalty kicks after the teams found themselves tied 2-2, and will meet Once Caldes in Buenos Aires in the first of two finals on Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at 8:00 pm (ET)/5:00 pm (PT). The second final match will take place in Manizales on Thursday, July 1st at 8:00 pm (ET)/5:00 pm (PT).Both matches will be carried live on Fox Sports en Español.
Jorge Agudelo of Once Caldes made team history when he scored the final goal at the 90th minute taking the team to the finals, and they will try to become the second Colombian team to win a Copa Toyota Libertadores title. If Boca Juniors win this year’s competition, it will be their third back-to-back title and their sixth overall win, placing them second to Independiente who has won the most Copa Toyota Libertadores championship titles.
