Russell Simmons’ Latino Hip-Hop Summit.

Russell Simmons (Chairman) and Dr. Benjamin Chavis (President) and the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network joined by Latin superstars Tego Calderon, Fat Joe, DJ TonyTouch, Angie Martinez, Crazy Legs of the Rock Steady Crew, Vico-C, Rosie Perez, AB Quintanilla and Aventura to create Latino Hip-Hop Summit.

Russell Simmons and the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network have been actively working for three years to engage urban youth in the issues that are important to them. HSAN is a non-profit, non-partisan national coalition of Hip-Hop artists, entertainment industry leaders, education advocates, civil rights proponents, and youth leaders united in the belief that Hip-Hop is an enormously influential agent for social change which must be responsibly and proactively utilized to fight the war on poverty and injustice.

We are now expanding outreach to engage Latino youths by launching the first ever Latino Hip-Hop Summit to be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2004.

The Latino Hip-Hop Summit will bring together the hottest talents from the worlds of Hip-Hop and Latin music to encourage empowerment in the Hispanic community. This groundbreaking event will serve as a platform for dialogue between the artists and our youths to discuss a variety of issues including the historical contributions of Latinos to the evolution of Hip-Hop and the importance of youth voter registration.
