‘Habla Again’ @ HBO Latino.
April 24, 2004
This month, HBO Latino is premiering a new, original and exclusive bilingual comedy special, “Habla Again,” on May 24th at 10:00PM (ET/PT).
The half-hour special includes anecdotes and real life accounts of what it means to be Latino in the U.S. Shot in Los Angeles, Latinos from backgrounds including Mexican, Dominican, Cuban, Spaniard and Puerto Rican candidly speak out and share their experiences on growing up and adjusting to life in the U. S. Through the use of poetry, narratives, and comical vignettes, performers touch on subjects like family, food, stereotypes, cross-cultures, “Spanglish” as a third language, and the urge to yell out “el grito” when hearing Mexican music.
The special brings back the very popular “Habla” on-air campaign that premiered on HBO Latino last June in celebration of the cultural diversity of U.S. Hispanics. Unique and entertaining, the campaign showcased fresh voices from the Hispanic community and provided a very frank look at how Latinos see themselves – not how they are depicted in the media.
