NAHP Foundation Issues Research RFP On The Use Of Circulation Audit Hispanic Publications.
April 10, 2004
The National Association of Hispanic Publications Foundation opened bids for research and survey models that will assist Hispanic publishers and media buyers to better utilize the findings of circulation audits. “Through this research we’ll present current and unique findings that unquestionably will maximize the utility of circulation audits to minority owned publications in large, medium and small media markets,” said Tom Oliver, Executive Director and CEO of NAHP Foundation. The “Audit Means Money” circulation program, launched in 2003, was designed to grow better business practices among Hispanic publishers who have not undertaken circulation audit in the past two years, said NAHP Foundation Chairman Eddie Escobedo. The program is sponsored by the Verizon Foundation, a long-term partner of NAHP Foundation.
Circulation audits not only provide publishers more advertising opportunities, but they also allow better management of readership and circulation campaigns, producing effective results. Some of those who welcomed circulation audits have had a solid response of their efforts. For example, the recent report by the Audit Bureau of Circulations showed that while some of the nation’s major newspapers reported circulation decline, other Spanish-language dailies presented gains. Some of the most influential Hispanic newspapers such as La Opinión, the largest Spanish-language daily in the country, Hoy in New York and El Nuevo Herald in Miami, presented steady gains in circulation. But, according to the Newspaper Association of America analysis of ABC’s Fas-Fax report, overall newspaper circulation fell by 0.1 percent over the period of the past year. The NAHP Foundation request states that the research/survey will help Hispanic publishers better understand circulation audits, their optimum effectiveness, areas where circulation audits would be a major advantage or not and highlight its usefulness to media buyers.
The “Audit Means Money” Research/survey RFP program is open to all researchers and professionals.
