Promotion Marketing Association Certification Program.

The Promotion Marketing Association (PMA) announced today the establishment of a certification program for those involved in the promotion and integrated marketing industries. The Certified Promotion Marketing Professional (CPMP) program recognizes individuals in the field who have met a predetermined level of training and work experience and who demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the promotion and integrated marketing discipline.

By earning a CPMP designation, marketing professionals will have a solid grounding in what it takes to produce, manage and direct successful marketing campaigns. CPMP professionals will join a select group of individuals who have advanced to the top of their professions, and be able to utilize the national recognition to set themselves apart from the competition and enrich their career.

“In a competitive business environment, differentiating yourself, as you would your brand or company, is key,” said Claire Rosenzweig, CAE, president of the PMA. “The new CPMP designation will afford distinct recognition in the field of promotion and integrated marketing, while also providing a competitive edge in the marketplace.”

The CPMP program will be administered by the PMA Education Foundation, and guided by an Advisory Board comprised of promotion leaders, including Sabrina Ironside, VP of Integrated Marketing, Fox Home Entertainment; Robert Bennett, VP of Marketing, Promotion Fulfillment Center and former Promotion Manager at Procter & Gamble; Dr. George E. Belch, Professor of Marketing, San Diego State University; Joseph Potocki, Owner, Joseph Potocki & Associates and former marketing exec at Hunt Wesson, General Mills and Warner-Lambert; Jim Lustenader; former Sr. Exec. VP – Strategic Services at DVC Worldwide; and Michael Jones, VP of Integrated Marketing at Coca-Cola.

Several executives have already been awarded the CPMP designation, including current PMA chairman Mickey Jardon, EVP, Managing Director of DVC Worldwide; Michelle des Lauriers, VP of SynerAction; and H. Pierce Pelouze, president of HPIII and Company and former VP Promotion at Campbell Soup Co., as well as Joseph Potocki and Jim Lustenader.

Rosenzweig added, “Those obtaining CPMP certification demonstrate that they are among the best in their field. These marketing professionals join and comprise a select group of distinguished individuals dedicated to expanding knowledge and insight into every aspect of promotion and integrated marketing.”

To earn the CPMP designation, candidates must have attained 150 credit hours of promotion marketing-related continuing education or professional development. Credits are awarded for education, achievement in association leadership, articles written and published on marketing management, honors or awards received and accomplishment in business. Additionally, candidates must agree in writing to adhere to the guidelines set forth in the PMA’s Principles of Conduct, adopted to promote and maintain the highest standards of service and business/personal conduct.
