Univision Presents ‘Mariana de la Noche’.
February 11, 2004
Why does every man who falls in love with Mariana Montenegro seem to meet an untimely death? This is the question that torments the title character of “Mariana de la Noche” (Mariana of the Night), a fascinating drama premiering on the Univision Network on Monday, March 8 at 8 pm ET/PT (7 pm Central/Mountain).
Convinced that she’s the victim of a horrible curse, Mariana (Alejandra Barros) is terrified of falling in love, as she fears for the life of any man who dares to tempt fate by entering into a romantic relationship with her. And with each unexplained death, rumors abound among the residents of the small mining town where she lives with her father, Atilio (César Evora), and her two aunts, Isabel (Alma Muriel) and Marcia (Angélica Rivera).
However, not even the fear of death can keep Ignacio Lugo (Jorge Salinas) away from Mariana from the moment he first meets her. A handsome journalist from the capital, Ignacio has arrived to town incognito on a very personal mission: to investigate the unsolved murders of his parents, which took place there 20 years before.
The unstoppable love that grows between Mariana and Ignacio is challenged by the conniving Aunt Marcia, who becomes infatuated with Ignacio and does everything possible to steal him from her niece. And Mariana’s father, the cruel and powerful mine owner, will be the key player not only in the mystery of the Lugo family, but also in revealing the devastating secret behind Mariana’s famous “curse.”
An original story by the celebrated novela writer Delia Fiallo, the Televisa-produced “Mariana de la Noche” will air Monday-Friday, 8-9 pm ET/PT (7-8 pm Central/Mountain) only on Univision, Hispanic America’s favorite TV network.
