Telemundo Washington DC To Launch ‘Tu Voto, Tu Voz’.

Telemundo Channel 64 and the League of Women Voters will launch their voting campaign, “Tu Voto, Tu Voz” (Your Vote, Your Voice) in a breakfast reception to take place at the Washington Court Hotel on March 10, 2004, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. At the event, Telemundo will introduce its public service announcement campaign “Tu Voto, Tu Voz” created to support and encourage voting among Hispanics. The station will also launch its off-air outreach efforts geared at bringing more Hispanics to vote.

The event will count on the presence of two major keynote speakers: Mr. Adam Chavarria, Executive Director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans, and The Honorable Grace Napolitano, Representative of Congressional District number 38 of California. Their main topic will be the importance of voting for the Hispanic community, and how it would affect Hispanic relevant issues, such as immigration, employment and education. The event will also count on the presence of renowned Hispanic community leaders, government representatives, members of Hispanic organizations, and media representatives.

“Tu Voto, Tu Voz is a community outreach campaign designed to engage Hispanics in the electoral process and empower viewers with information and resources available to them in the greater Washington DC metropolitan area,” said Julissa Marenco, general manager of Telemundo Channel 64’s.
