La Agencia de Orcí Honored By International Mobius Awards.
January 9, 2004
La Agencia de Orcí & Asociados has received three International Mobius Awards in the “Public Service Announcements” category in recognition of the agency’s creative work in 2003.
The 33rd International Mobius Awards competition honored La Agencia de Orcí with two first place awards for their :60 radio spot “Go For It!”/“Ya Puedes” for The Mexican American Legal Defense & Education Fund (MALDEF) and for their “Bear” TV spot for The Children’s Bureau; and a second place award for their “Frases en el trabajo” radio spot for Camino Nuevo.
The :60 “Go For It!”/“Ya Puedes” radio spot was part of a larger campaign developed by La Agencia de Orcí to educate the public about CA Assembly Bill 540 and encourage California youth who had not yet established their state residency to continue their education beyond high school. The spot featured information on the AB540, noted that tuition rates were more affordable for eligible immigrant students interested in attending California’s accredited public community colleges and universities, and directed listeners to call “1-800-88 GO 4 IT.” The campaign ran statewide. The :60 “Bear” spot was part of a larger, regional La Agencia de Orcí-developed campaign designed to help The Children’s Bureau raise $2.2 million for child abuse programs. The spot featured a teddy bear, which represented the only source of love for the abused children and implored adults to help by referring to the tragedies he witnessed. The teddy bear used in the campaign was more than 75 years old and was the perfect spokesperson for the 100-year-old organization. The campaign ran for three months and received overwhelming support from various media outlets, which all donated media time and space. “La Agencia de Orci has always been dedicated to educating the local Hispanic community, and our production of these public service announcements demonstrates our continued commitment,” explains Juan Jose Quintana, senior vice president and executive creative director for La Agencia de Orcí & Asociados. “We are honored to be receiving these three awards for our work and look forward to continuing to serve this diverse community.”
