Rodriguez On National Association of Latino Independent Producers Board.

Alex Rodriguez, President of the Santa Barbara Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SBHCC) has been elected to the board of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP), it was announced by both organizations. Alex will serve a three year term on the board of directors of the 5-year old Los Angeles-based non-profit that supports the professional development of industry, independent and community-based Latino/a filmmakers around the nation.

“It is truly an honor to have been considered by NALIP’s board of directors, even more so being elected,” said Alex Rodriguez. “The organization represents a very important segment of the film industry, and I look forward to making whatever contribution I can to grow the organization and help Latinos in television and the film industry.”

“Alex will be a tremendous addition to NALIP,” added Kathryn Galan, Executive Director of NALIP. “We hope that we can benefit from his experience, particularly as we bring our signature National Conference to Santa Barbara, starting this February, and we are sure that he can benefit from ours. Alex brings a depth of relationships, plus marketing and publicity expertise in and around the Latino community that will certainly help NALIP grow in the coming years.”

“NALIP is a terrific organization that works to promote the work of Latinos in the entertainment industry,” added Rodriguez. “Despite our growing numbers, images by and about Latinos are sorely under-represented in film, television, documentaries and new media. NALIP develops and supports the makers that can change all that.”
