Univision Makes It’s Mark In The Ratings In Raleigh-Durham Market.

Despite the fact that the Nielsen Station Index (NSI) does not take the language of viewers (a factor strongly associated with television viewing habits) into consideration in the Raleigh market, six-month-old Univision owned-and-operated station WUVC achieved remarkable November 2003 Sweeps results, tying with only one other station for the #1 spot among Men 18-34 in prime time with a 3.0 rating. In addition, WUVC is the new ratings leader among Men 18-24 during prime time (M-F 7:00p-10:00P). With a 2.6 rating, WUVC-TV attracted 53% more viewers than ABC’s WTVD, 225% more than CBS’s WRAL and 420% more viewers than NBC’s WNCN. WUVC’s network news (M-F 6:30-7:00p) was the #2 rated show for Men 18-24 and its Saturday night prime time program “Sabado Gigante” (8:00p-11:00p) was the #2 rated show for Men 18-34.

The Raleigh-Durham-Fayetteville market has one of the fastest growing Hispanic populations in the United States. Based on the US Census, the Hispanic population in counties comprising the market grew by 390% from 1990 to 2002.

“After only six months in the market, WUVC’s rating success is a testament to its ability to provide programming that meets the needs of Hispanics in North Carolina,” said Maria Montano, WUVC’s General Manager. “We look forward to continuing and growing our service to the community in every way we can.”
