Hispanic Public Relations Association Appoints 2004 Officers.

The Hispanic Public Relations Association (HPRA) has appointed Sandra Bernardo, a senior account executive of Magnet Communications, as its 2004 president, and Laura Hernandez, account executive from Rogers & Associates, as Vice President.

Also being appointed to the executive board is Sophia Chavez, community relations developer for the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Los Angeles as Secretary. Co-Treasurers are Rosio Corza, media director for Durazo Communications and Romina Bongiovanni, senior account executive, of RL Public Relations.

“It’s been very rewarding being the vice president the past two years and I am looking forward to leading this organization,” said Bernardo. “HPRA continues to grow as one of the premier organizations for Hispanic communications professionals and 2004 will be the best year yet.”

Some of this year’s initiatives include expanding the Web site with employment postings, new partnerships and collaborations, more professional development opportunities including a half-day seminar and aggressive outreach to local universities to increase student members. Also, HPRA will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year and the annual PRemio Awards and Scholarship Dinner will be an even bigger affair.
