Univision In Phoenix Taking On Mainstream TV In The Sweeps.

According to the November 2003 Nielsen Station Index (NSI), Univision’s owned-and-operated station KTVW is the new ratings leader among Adults 18-49 during prime time, local news, and total day viewing, outperforming its English and Spanish language counterparts in Phoenix

KTVW was the #1 station during prime time (Mon-Sun 6-10P) with a 5.0 rating, attracting 77% more viewers than ABC, 42% more than CBS, 7% more viewers than NBC and 19% more than FOX.

KTVW was also the station of choice for early evening news among all coveted demographics: Adults 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. Among Adults 18-49, Univision KTVW’s Noticias 33garnered a rating 37% higher than independent KTVK’s Good Evening Arizona news program during weekdays from 5-530P.

During total day viewing, Monday-Sunday 6A-2A, KTVW was also crowned with the #1 title, beating every other station in the Phoenix market. Univision’s KTVW attracted an audience almost three times the audience of ABC, 79% more than CBS, 19% more than NBC, and 13% more than FOX. This marks the first time a Spanish language network has taken the top spot with Adults 18-49 during the highly competitive November sweeps.

Among Adults 18-34, KTVW’s rating in total day viewing was equal to the combined ratings of second and third ranked FOX and NBC. . Univision received a 3.3 rating in total week NSI ratings while Fox earned a 1.8 and third ranked NBC garnered a 1.5.
