Telemundo Re-Aligns Key Management.

Telemundo announced the appointment of Manuel Martinez to the position of Vice President and General Manager at Telemundo WNJU, Channel 47 covering the metropolitan New York and New Jersey area, the second largest Hispanic market in the U.S. Martinez replaces Enrique Perez who was concurrently named to the position of Senior Vice President of Telemundo Station Group Sales. Both positions will report directly to Ibra Morales, President, Telemundo Station Group, who made the announcement and will be part of the new NBC Television Stations Division.

“Bringing Manuel back to our New York station will be a tremendous benefit to one of our most important and growing Hispanic markets,” said Morales.

“It is this type of leadership that our viewers, clients and the community can expect from Telemundo going forward as we continue to grow in this market,” added Jay Ireland, President, NBC Television Stations Division.

Martinez had previously served as the network Executive Vice President of Programming and Production. In 1985, he joined Telemundo’s WNJU-47, where he rose through the ranks at the station to become General Manager. Under his leadership, WNJU Channel 47 won its first Emmy and launched the award-winning late news “Noticiero 47,” in addition to the local entertainment program Sábado 47.

Enrique will oversee sales for the Telemundo Station Group, including both national spot and local sales. He was most recently Vice President and General Manager for Telemundo’s WNJU-47. He previously served as Senior Vice President of Sales for Radio Unica Networks and was Vice President and General Manager at MTV Latin America.
