Telemundo’s ‘El Alma Herida’ Shatters Premier Ratings Record.

Monday night’s launch of El Alma Herida at 9:00 pm ET/PT was the highest novela premiere during primetime in the last five years on Telemundo. This novela, produced for U.S. Hispanics by Telemundo and Argos (Mexico) garnered a 4.2* rating among Spanish language Adults viewers (18-49). The premiere gave Telemundo an impressive 91% ratings gain with Adults 18-49, compared to the average rating of the novela airing in December 2002 in the same time period.

With a stellar cast that includes Itatí Cantoral, Rebecca Jones, Alejandro Camacho, and Damián Alcázar; as well as Gabriel Porras and Rodrigo de la Rosa, ‘El Alma Herida’ tells the story of a loving family in Mexico that is tragically separated while crossing the U.S. border in search of a better life. The novella follows the lives of the family as they search for true love and fight against all odds to be reunited.

The novela is being shot on-location in cities such as Mixuacán, Hidalgo, Tijuana, and Los Angeles; as well as in Estudios Churubusco, where the great stars of the Mexican cinema once shined.

“We are very proud of this latest original production as it demonstrates our commitment to produce programs that reflect the lifestyles and experiences of our viewers,” said Jim McNamara, President and CEO, Telemundo.
