Entravision Radio Launches ‘El Gato 104.9’ In Dallas/Ft. Worth.

Entravision Radio, a division of Entravision Communications Corporation, announced a new format for its 104.9 FM frequency in Dallas/Ft. Worth. Launched today, “104.9 El Gato” is the market’s first station devoted to playing the diverse and rich sounds of Grupera and Cumbia music, which originated in the Central and Gulf Coast regions of Mexico.

“104.9 El Gato” appeals to the adult 18-44 demographic that identifies with the regional Mexican cultures, a group that comprises the vast majority of Dallas/Ft. Worth-based Hispanics. The station features such artists as Los Angeles Azules, Los Temerarios, Sonora Dinamita, Los Bukis and Rayito Colombiano, artists that have generated a lot of attention in the music industry with a broad catalog of hits and strong sales in the market.

“The creation and launch of ‘104.9 El Gato’ enhances our position in the nation’s fifth largest market by offering listeners a range of music genres and expanding our reach in the Hispanic marketplace,” said Scott Savage, General Manager of Entravision’s Dallas/Ft. Worth radio cluster. “This new format is the perfect complement to our ‘Super Estrella 101.7’ Spanish Top 40 station that also serves Dallas/Ft. Worth. The two stations combined offer advertisers more opportunities to maximize their reach of Hispanic listeners.”

“With the launch of ‘104.9 El Gato,’ Entravision is truly taking the lead in developing new Spanish-language radio formats,” said Dean James, the company’s local Operations Manager/Program Director. This new station reinforces the company’s dedication to providing the best and broadest Hispanic-targeted music on the dial.”
