Spanish Broadcasting System & Interep Jointly Announce A Renewed Strategic Alliance.
November 1, 2003
Raul Alarcon Jr., President and CEO of Spanish Broadcasting System, and Ralph Guild, CEO of Interep, today jointly announced an eight-year national representation agreement extending their current relationship until 2011.
Alarcon commented, “I’m very confident of Interep’s commitment to implement and execute SBS’s aggressive national sales growth strategy for 2004 and beyond.” He continued, “Our long-term partnership with Interep has been mutually profitable. Interep understands and implements both the day-to-day agency selling we require, as well as the important job of dealing directly with advertisers to make sure Hispanic Radio gets its fair share of radio advertising dollars.”
Part of the agreement includes the redesignation of Mike Agovino as co-President and co-COO of Interep, effective immediately, with the responsibility of starting a new radio rep company specializing in independent radio stations. Agovino most recently accepted the VP/GM position of the SBS Los Angeles Radio Stations KLAX-FM, KXOL-FM, and KZAB/KZBA-FM. Prior to accepting the position with SBS, Agovino was President of Clear Channel Radio Sales, and prior to that President of Katz Radio. He will report to Ralph Guild. SBS Chief Revenue Officer, Marko Radlovic, will continue to oversee
SBS’s LA radio stations until a successor is appointed.
Agovino commented, “I welcome the opportunity to create a new independent rep company under the Interep banner. I also look forward to developing new sources of revenue for the industry’s premiere independent clients, including SBS.”
